Gold-filled is NOT pure gold. It is like gold-plated as there is a layer of gold around another metal, such as brass. In fact it is also called “Rolled Gold Plated”. There is just a thicker layer of gold on the outside than gold-plating.
But, gold-filled is MUCH better, being 50-100,000 times thicker than gold-plating and will last much longer.
